The League of Wales side had a four figure bid for the 14 goal striker accepted by the Leek Town board, but McCarthy opted to stay put and that deal is now dead following the closure of the transfer window on Tuesday night which applies to League Of Wales clubs.
However, the news has sparked interest from other clubs with manager Lee Casswell telling The Sentinel, "The fact we accepted an offer from Airbus has alerted a couple of other clubs and Jimmy may have a massive decision to make."
Fellow striker Dan Cope has therefore been included in the squad to travel to Ilkeston tomorrow in case McCarthy is unavailable although theh freezing conditions mean that the game has only a slim chance of going ahead anyway.
