Blues were left empty-handed against Gresley after contriving to lose a game they should have won by conceding twice in the last seven minutes.

As expected Lee Casswell made changes to the side that drew at Newcastle, bringing in Mark Ruddock, Christian Millar and Karl Charlton with George Melling, Ashley Woolliscroft and Ross Davidson all on the bench.

Blues started better than in previous games and should have gone ahead after 12 minutes after Rob Stevenson was flattened in the area (pictured , below).

However, the normally reliable Matt Haddrell could not convert the spot-kick with Tom Gutteridge diving to his left to make the save.

Five minutes later Ruddock headed just wide from Tim Sanders free-kick and towards half-time the dangerous looking Stevenson had a goalbound effort blocked and Sam Hall's follow up was deflected just wide.

Gresley had created some chances but nothing to trouble the goal until the stroke of half-time when Dean Oliver hit a swerving effort from 20 yards that Danny Roberts tipped on to the post.

After the break the visitors got more into the game but neither side created a clear opportunity until Roberts got down well to save from Oliver on 67 minutes.

Ten minutes later Roberts made a great block with his feet to deny Phil Massingham who was through on goal.

Gresley were left to rue that miss as Blues went to the other end and took the lead. A fine cross from the left from substitute Ricky Bridge found Charlton (pictured, above) unmarked in the area and his looping header beat Gutteridge and found the far corner of the net.

In the 83rd minute the visitors levelled when Roberts was only able to get a hand on a cross. The loose ball dropped to Oliver and his shot took a deflection of Roberts to somewhat fortuitously loop over Danny Smith on the line.

Worse followed four minutes later as Gresley scored the winner. Smith was shepherding a harmless ball out of play but as Roberts came out to gather, the ball bounced off him straight back into the path of Oliver who slotted the ball into the empty net from a tight angle.

Town will know they will play worse than this and win this season and will look to put this result behind them and accept it was just one of those games.
