For once this season Blues found themselves in the right place at the right time as theirs was one of only three games to survive the weather.

Fortunately Town found themselves on the near perfect playing surface of Loughborough's Nanpantan Sports Ground and found it very much to their liking!

Lee Casswell was dealt a blow before the game when Tim Grice was ruled out through injury so Sam Hall returned to the starting line-up in midfield with Dan Shelley pushed further forward.

Blues forced former goalkeeper Joe McCormack into action in the opening moments but there was little other goalmouth action of note until the home side took the lead with a fortuitous goal in the 26th minute.

Daryll Thomas attempted to cross from the left and it deflected off the outstretched boot of Ryan Dicker and looped up over Ben Chapman before dropping in off the far post.

Leek responded instantly to this setback when just three minutes later they were awarded a penalty for a blatant handball and Liam Shotton smashed home the penalty.

It only took Shotton another four minutes to put his side in front when he polished off a fine passing move with a low shot into the corner of the net from 15 yards.

Two minutes later it was 3-1 as Chapman's long clearance upfield found Shelley who dinked the ball over McCormack to score.

Ant Danylyk limped off with a calf strain soon afterwards to be replaced by Karl Espley.

Any hopes of a home comeback were killed off five minutes after the break when Jordan Johnson ran in to meet Ash Jackson's cross and nod home from close range for a rare headed goal.

By the 55th minute it was 5-1 when Shelley played in Johnson and he slipped it past McCormack for his second of the game.

Worse was to follow for Dynamo on the hour mark when Matt Thorpe was shown a red card for a bad challenge on Espley which resulted in him going off a few minutes later to be replaced by Sean Kinsella.

In the 77th minute Johnson completed his hat-trick after some great work by Shelley in the box resulted in him setting up the striker for an easy chance from six yards out.

With 90 minutes up substitute Tom Lowe got in on the scoring when Matt Bell played him in and he finished well putting the ball through McCormack's legs for his first goal for the club.

A great performance and a great result in a game that effectively became a game in hand being played with all of Blues promotion rivals barring Sutton Coldfield Town out of action.
