Any thoughts of a hangover from the FA Cup defeat against Blyth were quickly dispelled as Blues won 4-1 at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Lee Casswell made one change to his starting line-up with Ashley Jackson coming in at left back which moved Matt Bell into midfield at the expense of Niall Maguire who took a seat on the bench.

Blues started brightly but were rocked in the 9th minute when Rory Coleman curled a superb 25 yard free-kick into the top corner beyond the reaches of Ben Chapman.

It took Leek a while to start creating chances but then Danny Smith had a shot saved and Jordan Johnson put one effort just over and another just wide in a six minute spell.

Steels went close to doubling their advantage in the 39th minute when Scott Turner flashed a shot across goal but it went just wide of the far post.

Casswell returned to the dugout early after half-time and if he had some harsh words for his side during the break it certainly had an effect.

Within two minutes of the restart Sam Hall (pictured) netted the equaliser with a shot from the edge of the box. Johnson had the ball in the net a few minutes later but it was ruled out for offside.

Just before the hour Smith burst into the box and had his effort beaten away at full stretch . However the full back appeared to turn his left ankle badly as he shot and was stretchered off and replaced by Paul Donnelly.

Blues went ahead in the 68h minute when following good work by Johnson and Kinsey down the left, a cross found it’s way across goal to Hall, who rammed the ball home from close range.

Eight minutes later a lovely deep cross from Donnelly found Kinsey who was denied by Liam Flynn in the Steels goal from point-blank range.

However just two minutes later the points were safe as Liam Shotton scored the goal of the game. The striker picked the ball up on the left wing and then cut inside the defender to shoot low and hard form the edge of the box to beat Flynn at his near post.

There was still time for Matt Bell to add the icing on the cake as he scored the fourth a minute from time slipping the ball past Flynn after being played in by Tim Grice.

Chapman maintained the three goal advantage with a fine save in added time, getting down low at full stretch to palm away a goalbound effort.
