A superb performance saw Blues defeat Stafford Rangers 2-0 and go two points clear at the top of the table.

Both sides went into the game with three wins out of three but it was rarely in doubt as to who would maintain their 100% record.

Rangers best spell of the game came in the opening quarter of an hour with Christian Dacres going close with a header from a corner that dropped just wide after 8 minutes.

Blues first attempt on target came on 23 minutes when Darren Chadwick's header from a corner was saved by Adam Whitehouse in the Rangers goal.

The keeper was powerless however to prevent Blues taking the lead just two minutes later. Slack marking in the Stafford defence allowed a corner to be played out to Dan Shelley totally unmarked on the edge of the box and his shot was flicked past Whitehouse at close range from Niall Maguire (pictured, below)

Leek gradually imposed themselves on the game and went further ahead in first half stoppage time. Matt Bell whipped in a lovely free-kick from the left and Sam Hall's bullet header found the back of the net (pictured, below),

The second half saw Town in complete control with Rangers unable to muster a serious effort on Ben Chapman's goal.

Shelley and Maguire both blasted over from good positions around the hour mark and on 70 minutes the Rangers goal led a charmed life.

Liam Shotton connected with a free-kick and his effort thudded against the post. The rebound fell to Hall who saw his shot headed off the line.

Five minutes later good work from Tim Grice saw his almost perfect ball for Shotton cut out by a defender who headed over his own keeper but just wide of the post.

In the 80th minute a fine shot from Matt Bell produced a magnificent save from Whitehouse who tipped his shot over the bar at full stretch.

Two minutes later Shotton hit the woodwork again when his snap-shot from ten yards cannoned into the crossbar.

In the end 2-0 somewhat flattered the visitors who were a well-beaten side against a Blues team whose performance was clinical and professional.
