Biography
'Bake" returned for his third spell in charge of the club in June 2017. Neil first managed the Blues in a highly successful spell from 1986-94 where he led the club into the NPL Premier Division and to the FA Trophy final at Wembley in 1990.
He left to join Crewe Alexandra where he has held various roles including assistant manager. He had a short spell back in the dugout at Leek in 2011 before returning full-time to Crewe.
Neil has led his beloved Leek Town to a play off final in 2018/19 and to the top of the table in 2019/20 before the covid pandemic brought an abrupt end to the season with no promotion. The Blues were on top again in 2020/21 before the season was curtailed.
A return to the tougher West Division saw Leek finish a highly creditable 3rd losing to Runcorn Linnets in the playoffs. In 2022/23 Leek finished 2nd to Macclesfield, but were once again foiled by Runcorn in the play offs.
