BLUES UNDONE BY BUCKS
Blues lost their final pre-season friendly when they took on Premier Division neighbours Buxton at Silverlands on Saturday.
Manager Neil Baker was forced to field a patched up side missing six regulars and with all four strikers unavailable the Blues’ boss drafted in four of the club’s under-18’s to fill the bench.
The Bucks won the game thanks to two superb strikes by Andy McWilliams and Sam Smith inside 13 minutes before a shocking tackle on Sam Grimshaw on 20 minutes meant he took no further part in the game.
After the break Leek looked a better proposition and defended well but were unable to penetrate the home side’s resolute defence although the hard working Blues did create a number of half-chances.
