Leek Town Football Club is continuing it's commitment to the community at large with the launch of its Community Scheme in the near future.
The aim of Leek Town Community is to deliver activities around the whole of the Staffordshire Moorlands.
This part of the football club will be responsible for engaging the community in a variety of ways, with a variety of activities.
Steven Kell will have the task of initiating and growing this project over the coming weeks, months and years.
Leek Town is a football club which has developed rapidly over the last few years and a natural progression now is Community Development.
Steve has been working in community/sport development for a number of years, most recent being senior development officer at Macclesfield Town FC Community Sports Trust.
Leek Town Community will be setting up various activities in the local community that will tackle participation, education, environment, social inclusion, health & wellbeing and employment and will deliver many different schemes to the whole of the Staffordshire Moorlands and wider community.
Activities from after school clubs and Saturday morning clubs to holiday courses, street soccer to tackle social inclusion, alternative education to reach the disengaged children in schools and job clubs to help with unemployment are just a few of the long term goals of this project.
This is a long term project that will take time to build, but with activities intending to start as early as May, with the first holiday club intended for the June half term (venue-TBC) it will surely be a thriving part of the community very soon.
So keep an eye out for Leek Town Community delivering activities near you. All future activities will be posted in the Community Development section of this website.
