LEEK TOWN LADIES 10 - 0 BRERETON TOWN LADIES

Ladies on good form for final league game of season.

We played really well today and every player had a good game. We have had some good games v Brereton in the past but circumstances sadly mean that this was their last ever game. Best wishes to all the Brereton players for the future.

Leek Town got off to the best possible start in the 1st minute after good work by Elise Skelding she got the ball through to Emily Boon who fired a low shot into the corner of the net to open the scoring for Leek. 6 minutes later and Boon turned provider for Rehanne Mellor to score the second.
On 12 minutes Simone Kelsall played the ball out well to Skelding again with an assist to Kim Sheldon for Leek’s third.
Brereton attacks mainly looked for their pacy striker but they were finding it difficult to penetrate the solid Leek defence. Brereton did get a good shot away well saved by keeper Hannah Austin.
Leek almost had another before half time but Mellor’s shot was just over.

Half time Leek Town Ladies 3 - 0 Brereton Town Ladies.

Straight from 2nd half kick off Jules Kendrick found Alice Painter down the right flank, Painter used her pace to get around the back of the defence and pull the ball back for Lacey-May Smith to slot home. On 51 minutes Michaela Lockett found Kay Sheldon who placed the ball past the keeper for Leeks 5th.
The 6th goal for Leek was the result of a goal mouth scramble and L Smith scored her 2nd of the day.
5 minutes later and Charlie Awde played the ball out from the back to Kim Sheldon who found Mellor to slot past the keeper and on 72 minutes Mellor was in again to complete her hat trick.
Brereton almost got through with a good attack which was intercepted by Naomi Sale-Hancock who passed the ball on to Emma Smith, she moved forward and found Kim Sheldon, Sheldon ran on and hit a great shot from 20yds which beat the keeper for her 2nd of the game.
Leek’s final goal came when Mollie Shaw broke up play and sent the ball wide to Painter who got the ball into the box for Skelding to fire home.
