LMRFC ventures out of Leicester into Northern pastures

LMRFC embarked on their annual tour this last weekend, visiting the Northern outpost of Leeds, where one of the club's tour secretaries had been intercalating the past year.

The tour began with a meet at 4pm sharp from Leicester's Beaumont Hall of residence and, following a strict, gin-enforced kit check, LMRFC were speeding away to the desolate North. Each non-driver sourced four cans of high strength beer for the journey and thus began a marvellous weekend.

The first night was a hectic whirl, with the club arriving at the hostel only minutes before heading out into the city to begin the evening with a curry. A fine tikka masala, a couple of pubs on the Otley Run and before long, a strong LMRFC contingent were in Pryzm night club.

Nursing ourselves from the night before, the club were roused by news of the All Blacks beating Wales (again) and before long, most of the cars were being packed for a pub in Headingley, where we would watch that fabulous game of rugby where England clinched their test series with the Wallabies.

After the game, we headed on to Thorp Arch, where LMRFC were hosted by the lovely Shirley Davies. Having erected tents for the night's stay, LMRFC ensured some rugby was played with a round robin touch tournament on the well-kept lawn. After a quick hose down and a change into social attire, LMRFC headed to the wonderful Pax Inn, for their beer festival. A marvellous night was had by all, with the club well received and dancing with locals well into the night.

After a final night's sleep, LMRFC awoke to 150 barbecued sausages, curing many a hangover before the long drive home.
