Club Captain leads the way...

LRFC captain Greg Downes scored another fine hat trick with three accolades at the club’s annual Awards Evening, held at The Green Rooms in Hinckley.

The popular Aussie midfielder (and scorer of 23 goals this season) landed the Players Player of the Year plus the Sponsors Player of the year with 50 % of the vote – Callum Earls was second and Will Highland third.

Greg also received a Managers Recognition award from Leicester Road FC Head Coach Neil Lyne for his leadership, ambassadorial and mentoring roles with senior and youth players alike, as well as his playing and goal scoring prowess.

Supporters Player of the Year went to LRFC’s brave and agile keeper Will Highland, who scooped 55% of the vote, with Greg Downes voted second and Callum Earls third.

Goal of the Season was Jarrod Acton’s 35 yard screamer home to Littleton, with Jake Holt second for his audacious long range strike versus Heath Hayes and Jordan Burrows third with his impressive half volley also in the Littleton home fixture.

Supporter of the Year was the irrepressible Mike Mason, who together with his brother Pete make themselves seen and heard at all home and away fixtures, while Clubman of the Year is Vinnie Munton who has raised over £3,000 for the club with his excellent Last Man Standing competition.

There was a also a fun and lively auction, which included Mick Greenock bidding £620 for a luxury four star, four night break in Venice, and LRFC director Kevin Thompson bidding £50 for two tickets for a day at Uttoxeter Racecourse. The raffle also raised £255 for the club.
