Popular central midfielder Joe Lyne has “come home” to Leicester Road after two months with National League North Nuneaton Borough.

Joe (age 22) was one of the first signings made by former Leicester Road player Nick Hawkins, when he purchased the club recently and took up the Chairman's reins at Nuneaton Borough – and whilst Joe feels he acquitted himself well, it didn’t quite work out how he anticipated.

He explains: “I played a number of 90 minute games in both the league and cup upon my arrival at Nuneaton Borough, however over the Christmas period I found my playing time more restricted. Following a conversation with the current manager, it was agreed that the best thing for my own development would be to get back playing football regularly and with a smile on my face.”

“It is no secret that the football club has encountered some instability this season, myself having played under three different managers in my short time at the club being a testament of this. However, whether playing or not I certainly learnt a huge amount during my time at the football club and the experience of playing at such a level will undoubtedly hold me in good stead for the future.”

“I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the club, its staff, officials and the loyal fans, who always back their team, through thick and thin. I have a very honest and open relationship with Nick Hawkins and Jimmy Ginnelly and we’ve all parted on very good terms. Sometimes though things aren’t meant to be and it’s best to accept that and move on.

“It was a no-brainer to come straight back to Leicester Road FC, which after seven enjoyable years will always be my club. I always looked out for their result on Saturday evenings and having grown up with a lot of the boys, they certainly feel more like family than teammates.”

“I share the club’s goals and passion for progression and still believe we can achieve great things both this season and over the coming years. The deserved victories over Shepshed Dynamo and Loughborough Dynamo in the County Cup recently prove we can compete at a higher level – and they’re only the start.”

“With the recent arrivals like Danny Jenno, Liam Read, Dom Brennan and Jak Jeys, adding great quality and depth to the squad and a midfield with a perfect balance of robustness and creativity I know I’m going to have to work hard to earn a place in the starting lineup – but as ever, I’m prepared to give absolutely everything in order to contribute towards the success of Leicester Road Football Club.”
