Free entertainment and a lot of festive spirit encouraged a capacity filled crowd to dig deep for Derian on Boxing Day when Leigh Rugby Union Bowling Club held its fifth Brass Band carol and Christmas music event.

This year over one hundred people filled the room to raise their voices singing traditional Christmas carols and songs.
The music was provided by Chat Brass Ensemble who gave their services free of charge their only remuneration being free beer to whet their whistles.

There was no charge to attend the event, during which, concert goers enjoyed free mince pies and mulled wine kindly donated by local supermarkets Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s, instead the audience was asked to make a donation to Derian House and they showed their appreciation by raising a generous £355.
Over the years Leigh Rugby Union Bowling Section has raised more than £3000.

This event was organised as usual by Anne Gough and Derek Leake Snr on behalf of the bowling section.
Everyone had a great afternoon and due to popular demand it has already been pencilled into the diary for 2015.
