Our vision is for the development of football to engage and excite people into a lifelong commitment to sport, To provide quality, safe opportunities for young people of all ages in our community, To help people to realise their potential, develop personal skill and confidence, To introduce people to football regardless of age, ability, sex, religion and ethnic background, To improve the performance of players, coaches and volunteers within the community, To provide a safe and positive alternative place to go other than playing on the streets.
Leigh Genesis are an established FA Charter Standard Community Club, having held the status since 2008 and are one of only 28 in the Lancashire County FA . We are proud of our Chartered Standard Community Status as this is the highest possible award for grassroots football. It recognises that we are a well-managed club providing quality coaching across all age groups for both male and females.
In order to best improve our player’s technical ability and enjoyment of the game we have invested heavily in our qualified coaches. We have some 47 coaches with qualifications ranging from FA Level 1 to UEFA A Pro-Licence. All our qualified coaches are trained in child safeguarding, emergency aid and have completed an Enhanced FA Criminal Record Check. We also offer dedicated goalkeeping and Futsal coaching.
We currently have 42 teams playing in over 6 local leagues. We provide football for all levels of ability. Some of our teams play at the top level of their competition whilst other teams continue to develop in lower league competitions.
Teams start at Under 5 with our Soccer Academy rising each year through to U18’s then U21’s. In the Open Age categories we have a First Team & Reserves and also run a Veterans Team.
Over 10% of our membership is female with girl’s teams at U10, 12, 15 & 16.
Our teams play Saturday, Sunday and some midweek depending upon which league they compete in. The football season typically runs from September through to May with some younger age groups having a winter break. All teams train at least 1 day per week and we train all year round. We have winter training venues with all-weather pitches and floodlights.
We branch out into the community with Trim Down Shape Up, Mens Social Football, Girls Community Football Sessions, Goalkeeping Network and we have a Satellite Club link with Lowton High School for school years 7, 8 & 9.
Presentation Nights are in June thus completing a year round spell of football activity.
Our plans for the future focus on having our own home at Lowton High School, where we have access to 4 grass pitches, changing rooms, toilets, ample car parking and plans for a Club House. The site has a full size floodlit AstroTurf pitch which is already in use by many of our teams. Work will soon commence to improve drainage on the existing grass pitches to bring to fruition our Club Plan.
