Leigh Genesis U18 College Team travelled to Wrexham to play Yale College in the British Colleges League.
With both teams suffering from recent poor league form the points were up for grabs for the team who wanted it most.
It was Yale who took the game to Genesis and only a strong defensive display kept Yale at bay for 30 minutes. However, with Genesis being totally dominated in midfield, they had nothing to offer in attack. It was only a matter of time before Yale took advantage. For once the Genesis defence had a shaky moment when a poor clearance caused panic in the Genesis defence that resulted in a penalty to Yale.
The spot kick was good but Genesis goalkeeper Josh Bagley saved brilliantly. Yale now urged on and a clinical through ball was latched on by the centre forward who put the home side 1-0 up.
Yale were dominant to the break but could not convert any more chances. HT 1-0.

With a healthy squad size the changes were rang to give the team a fresh start to the game. Unfortunately, an almighty defensive blunder gave Genesis a mountain to climb as they hit 2-0 down.
To their credit Genesis rolled up their sleeves and from this point onwards completely controlled the game. A great through ball to Tom Jackson was hammered home to make 2-1. Within minutes the influential Ryan Culshaw crossed in a free kick that the Yale keeper misjudged to put Genesis level.
A rash challenge on the lively Brandon Coleman resulted in a straight red to put Yale down to ten men. Genesis were now in complete control and camped in the Yale half.
Fifteen minutes from time up stepped Ryan Culshaw to smash home a shot into the top corner which won the game for Genesis.
A game of two halves. Yale dominant in the first half and Genesis dominant in the second. Three points for Genesis to consolidate their mid-table position.
