A Night to go down in Leigh Genesis History!

As a result of being awarded Club Of The Year at the Wigan Sports Awards Leigh Genesis FC represented the Wigan Borough in the Club Of The Year category at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards at Lancashire Cricket Club last Friday.
The competition from the 9 other boroughs that make up the county of Greater Manchester was very strong but so too was the case for Leigh Genesis FC who won the highly prestigious award in front of an audience of over 500 fellow competitors, sports personalities, and local and regional politicians.
Janet Smith, Nick Boardman and Rob Atherton were invited to the stage to talk about the club and to receive the award.
Rob later commented " This award is the pinnacle of our achievement's to date. Not only do we run a very large number of teams but we have successfully engaged with the local community by offering different types of training sessions to non members of the club and these are being sustained. We wish to thank our officials, managers, coaches, parents and players for their hard work, support and loyalty and also our key partners such as WLCT, Lowton C of E High School, Leigh Sports Village and the Lancashire Football Association for their support that has helped the club to achieve this highly sought after award."
