Dear players, officials, spectators and coaches….essential all of you who are in our LBHC Family,

We are about to begin the 2017/2018 season and we hope that it will be a great season for you all.

We are proud of our Club and we hope to continue to build on what is already a solid and successful base. The committee have already been busy getting things organised so that each week you can come along to training and matches and play in a fun, safe environment and fulfil your hockey potential.

It is timely for me to remind all of you about the behaviour that is expected of each and every member, parent, spectator and official. England Hockey have produced the document above and I would ask that you all spend 10 minutes just to read the document so that you are clear of the expectation we have in terms of conduct. It looks like a large document but it won’t take you too long and you can go directly to the section most relevant to you. Parents of junior players can I ask that you talk to your children just to highlight the principles of RESPECT so that everyone has an understanding of what we sign up to as a Club. Below is a summary for the minimum in terms of conduct:

All individuals involved in hockey will, at all times:

• Respect the spirit of fair play in hockey. This is more than playing within the rules. It also incorporates the concepts of friendship, respect for others and always participating with the right spirit.
• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others.
• Conduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasonable measures to protect their own safety and the safety of others.
• Promote the reputation of the sport and take all possible steps to prevent it from being brought into disrepute.
• Protect themselves and others involved in the game from verbal or physical abuse and threatening or intimidating behaviour.
• Never use inappropriate language or gestures.
• Abide by the EH Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Hockey Policy and Procedures and Good Practice Guidelines.
• Abide by the EH Equality Policy.
• Abide by the EH Anti-doping Rules.
• Take personal responsibility to ensure that they are suitably insured for their activities.
