Royston 3rd XI 0 - Letchworth 4th XI 3

by Anna Saunders

The 4th XI took the opportunity to give their 'occasional' senior players & their younger juniors some competitive hockey, at Royston, on Saturday.

Stand-in 'keeper Lorna Alcock was kept busy throughout but her team managed to take the lead, much against the run of play, when Haidee Castle scored from a short corner. Royston continued to pile pressure on the Letchworth defence but could not capitalise. In the second half, Chloe Parker followed up another Letchworth corner to add a second & then Kelley Wray scored her first goal for the club, to secure a 3-0 victory. 'Player of the Match' 14 year old Rebecca Maynard made light of the warm conditions, running miles in the heart of the midfield, as Letchworth finished comfortable winners. In their final league match next Saturday, the 4s face Saffron Walden - a Div 6 Champions title decider.
