Cup disaster

Cup disaster image

Controversial winner doesn't deflect from an average performance.

Where has it all gone wrong in recent games after a brilliant performance against Maidenhead the wheels have well and truly come off in the last two matches.

With the reserves having a fixture not for the first time this season the management were left with no choice but to named themselves on the bench. Denzil was still injured, Sean Webb transferred to Witney in the week, Payney was unavailable and Boggy cup tied.

In fairness to the players it was an totally unacceptable pitch for such an important game. Far too small which meant it was difficult to play any football, however it is the same for both sides and we certainly didn't adapt to the conditions until the second half.

The officials didn't help matters with both assistants failing to keep up with play, which resulted in the winning goal being scored when the Chalvey forward was clearly off-side [even the home supporters admitted it!] The referee was far to fussy and no one could speak to him. To have a player from each side booked when they only asked a question beggars belief.

The players were disappointed at the end but too many of them didn't play anywhere near there best and to make the Chalvey keeper work hard twice during 120 minutes said it all!

With league results not going our way today either the remainder of the season doesn't look too rosy at present. The whole squad now needs to knuckle and find some form sooner rather than later.
