Des Williams oversaw a positive performance from our squad, that included first pre-season matches for Tom Malton (who signed Hellenic League forms after the game), Sean Webb and Dan Hoskin. We also gave second run-outs to new signings Chris Brind and Pat Howe.

The first half got off to a frantic start and both sides looked to make their mark in the opening stages. Didcot Town Reserves scored on 31 minutes through a neat finish. We managed to exert some attacking influence though and were unfortunate to be behind at the break.

We were by far the better team in the second half though and played some of our best football of the pre-season campaign. Tom Stone missed a good chance on 57 minutes after a great ball fro Luke Stone, but we managed an equaliser two minutes later. Pat Howe's shot was parried and Paul Farrell turned in the rebound to bring us level.

We went close to winning it when Tom Stone's long range volley crashed the crossbar.

Overall this was a good performance by Letcombe, especially in the second half ad it is really good to see that Manager David Richardson has options all over the park. The players have a break on Saturday, but we are back in Faringdon Thursday Memorial Cup action on Monday (2nd August) with a trip to Saxton Rovers. We can be really pleased with how pre-season is going so far.
