Des Williams reports as Goodchild scores twice and Letcombe draw 2-2.

Letcombe had 14 players not available, 8 of them regular first teamers (Tom Stone, Luke Stone, Adam Claydon, Richard Claydon, Dan Hoskin, Luke Faircloth, Callum Pryce and Elliott Harper). Letcombe were therefore forced to cancel their reserve team fixture, and they gave debuts to youngsters George Francis and Jack Howes, with Sean Webb taking over the captaincy.

Letcombe produced some of their best football for a long time in the first half, and deservedly took the lead after 9 minutes. Tom Rowe broke from defence and exchanged passes Andy Goodchild, but he was brought down as he was about to shoot, and Goodchild scored from the resulting penalty. Craig Pearman hit the bar with a free kick for Easington, but the Letcombe defence remained solid, with Tom Rowe and Sean Webb excelling at its heart.

The second half was completely different as Easington took control. The hosts always looked dangerous from set pieces, and two minutes after half time Ben Milner won a header from a corner at the fart post, and Dorrell Livous scored from close range. Easington were in front a minute later, Craig Robinson flicking the ball into the top corner from a left wing cross.

Letcombe`s injury crisis worsened as Tom Broad had to leave the field with a groin strain, to be replaced by 16 year old debutant Jamie Ballard. Soon afterwards Jack Howes sustained a cut eyebrow, Marc Merritt deputising, and then manager David Richardson had to replace James Wright.

Danny Joyce made an excellent save from a free kick and Easington had a `goal` disallowed for offside before Letcombe snatched a point in the 88th minute, Andy Goodchild scoring his second penalty which was awarded for a clear hand-ball.

Letcombe should be very proud of their battling performance with so many changes, and I am sure that they would have been happy with a point prior to the match.
