Last weekend's 4-0 defeat at home to Tuffley Rovers was disappointing and coupled with the previous week's loss at North Leigh, it has been a difficult few matches. Despite that, morale in the dressing room hasn't lapsed and the players are as determined as ever to return to performance levels that have seen us match Lydney Town and Carterton on our own pitch. The lads had a frank discussion on the pitch following the Tuffley Rovers game and to a man will want to put things right against Fairford.

Des Williams will lead the team on Saturday and will be boosted by the return to fitness of winger Alex Thomas. Alex missed last week's match with a hamstring injury and will be a welcome returnee on Saturday. The squad is also likely to include youngster Ross Packham for the first time. Ross has been outstanding for our Reserve side so far this season and the management are quite rightly very excited at the prospect of him making a First Team debut. Elsewhere, Dan Hoskin is pushing for a starting slot and Matt Pill, who really impressed playing in a wider role last weekend, should be fit after sustaining a hip injury during the second half.

Fairford were beaten 8-0 by runaway league leaders Longlevens last weekend. They have the same amount of points (five) as us this season and their sole league victory came on the opening day of the campaign, a 5-4 thriller against Shortwood United. They did secure an impressive win in the Floodlit Cup earlier this week, beating Milton United 4-2.

It should be a really good game at Bassett Road on Saturday and don't forget, in a week where the cost of football has come under the spotlight, it only costs £3 to come and watch us! The match is a 3pm kick off and all support is more than welcome.
