Newbury too strong

Letcombe below par.

After last weeks high the lads came crashing back down to earth with a poor performance against high flying Newbury.

The management were pleased that Luke was passed fit to play and that Pete and Craig returned after missing last weeks win. However with no Denzil, Brindy, Ells, Ollie, Tommy and Dave Lee available and Beardy pulling out on the morning of the game the squad was somewhat stretched.

The defence remained the same once again but looked totally out of sorts in the first half, chasing shadows! As most of our midfield were in a period totally dominated by Newbury. To go in at the break only 2-1 down was a bonus! Boggy and Jezzyy combining to enable us to sneak a goal we didn't deserve.

The second period started brighter despite Luke going off with a recurrance of his injury and Fletch a late call coming on to replace him. However we still kept giving the ball away and made to many errors. It was no surprise when Newbury added a third.

Newbury are a good side but we showed them too much respect. It was summed up by Des who asked who was our man of the match and no one really had a clue!

The game had 7 cautions and with only one bad tackle in the match. Both benches were left frustrated by some needless cards from an over fussy official.

Not the kind of showing everyone had expected from the lads and they now have to pick themselves up and prepare for next weeks Berks & Bucks cup quarter final.
