Des looks at our opening matches as he writes ahead of the North Leigh United game.

Here's what Letcombe Secretary and Physio Des Williams had to say in his notes, ahead of the 3-1 defeat against North Leigh United.

"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Bassett Road. We would particularly like to welcome the players, officials and supporters of North Leigh Reserves. They did the double over us last season, so we will be looking for our revenge today. They lost their first match of the season, but have bounced back with two good victories since then. A welcome also to our 3 match officials. We hope that you enjoy the game.

It was good to open our `win` account with a convincing victory at home to Cirencester Town Development last Saturday. We totally dominated the first 30 minutes, and a great strike from Tom Stone plus two goals from Dan Hoskin gave us a 3-0 lead. We `took our foot off the pedal` after that, but we always had the game under control and added a fourth on the hour. I would like to apologise to Dave Richardson as I have been asking him why Luke Stone goes up for corners, and saying that Tom Stone`s free kicks were too `loopy` and lacked pace. Those of you who were present will know that I was firmly put in my place as Tom Stone placed a free kick beyond the far post, and Luke Stone scored with a header back across goal and inside the post. I will keep quiet in future!!

We welcome Jack Hamblin back to the squad today after his travels around Europe. He was our player of the year last season, and home fans will know the serious injury he received in our last home game against Purton in April. It is great to see him back, apparently having fully recovered from his broken jaw.

We travel to New College Swindon next Saturday, and then have another difficult away trip to Purton who have started the season well. We are confident that we will give anybody a good game this season, although we are lacking a little fitness at the moment. There is also a healthy competition for places, so nobody can rest on their laurels."
