Whilst the Leyland Morris team can trace its origins back as far as 1889, the present side are commemorating fifty years of continuity this year and therefore, on the 29th April 2017, we are marking this achievement in a unique way. A special event will take place at Leyland Cricket Club on Fox Lane from 2pm to 4pm and will include a grand photographic exhibition and will be a once-in-a –lifetime opportunity to peruse over 120 years of photographs from the team’s archives. ADMISSION IS FREE.
The team will, of course, be dancing in and around Leyland town centre during the morning of the 29th April and it is hoped that many of the town’s folk will be out to enjoy seeing a living Leyland tradition which stretches back into the nineteenth century.
To carry on this tradition we need new recruits and will welcome both musicians and dancers who may be interested. If you are reasonably fit, active and enjoy good company, then Morris just might be for you. Morris dancing is an integral part of our musical heritage and a tradition worth preserving here in Leyland.
