Odds & Ends
Updated 11:28 - 17 Apr 2018 by David Rowland
1. Many thanks to all who turned out at Swansea Terrace on Thursday, 22nd March. Residents and staff were fulsome in their thanks. Sadly Mike & David T. came away with more than they’d bargained for! i.e. ‘flu-like symptoms for a few days after. Apparently the home had had to be closed to visitors for a week or so after our visit!
2. The Morris Ring Circular No.74 is now available for you to read. You may find the article on pages 7 & 8 concerning the demise of Green Man Morris & Sword Club of particular interest. Certainly there are a number of similarities between their efforts and ours to keep things going.
3. Re-reminder to take a look at Dave Rowland’s handiwork with the website.
4. Notable dates: Thursday is Primrose Day; Saturday – St Anselm; Sunday – Vocations Sunday and the London Marathon; next Monday – St George and also the birth of William Shakespeare in 1564; Wednesday 25th – St Mark; Sunday, 29th – St Catherine. Then on 1st May (May Day) at 6 am there’s singing from the tower of Magdelen College, Oxford, and lots of Morris dancing. It’s also St Philip & St Jude’s day; Weds.2nd the Badminton Horse Trials begin; Thurs. 3rd sees the start of the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race; Sun.6th is Rogation Sunday; Mon.7th is the start of Red Cross Week and the May Day holiday; Tues,8th – World Red Cross Day and Furry Day at Padstow, Cornwall; Weds.9th is Europe Day; Thurs.10th – Ascension Day; Sun.13th Christian Aid Week begins and Mon.14th – St Matthias and the start of Mental Health Awareness Week.
