Since my last notes we've supported our local Sports & Social Club's Gala and danced
in Preston town centre. There we witnessed our neighbours, Stone the Crows Border
Team, receiving their Guinness World Record certificate (which made us some of the
new World Record Holders too!). We've entertained at Swansea Terrace Care Home,
Ashton, Preston; at Knowle Green Village Hall for the Arts for Disabled Adults group
And also at the Little Sisters of the Poor care home, Fulwood; probably for the final time, before the nuns move out and the place closes down.
We were greatly honoured to be invited to do a couple of spots for the Leyland Folk Dance Club when they celebrated their 60th anniversary celebration event. Again we supported both Derian House Children's Hospice Winter Sparkle at Astley Hall, Chorley, and Garstang Victorian Fair, and we shared a Christmas meal together in the midst of it all. A busy time!!!!
The year 2016 marked fifty years since the beginning of the re-formation of Leyland's
Morris team and we hope to see many of you at the special exhibition on Saturday, the
29th April. (Photos, archive film and artefacts (including the Editor of the 'Lancashire Wakes magazine) will be on show. It was also the 70th anniversary of the first appearance of the St James' Morris Dancers from Moss Side, Leyland and part of the exhibition will be devoted to them too.
Bookings tend to come in clusters at certain times of the year, as you can imagine.
However, in 2017 it's our intention to dance out at least once every calendar month.
By the time you read this we shall already have turned out at least twice. Another
Novelty!!! Who knows? But it seemed a good idea at the time! Will all this result in new recruits coming forward to join us? Even one would be a bonus!
