Crosfield 36 - Leyland Warriors 20
The team were playing a curtain raiser for the Tom Sephton Memorial Trophy game, in honour of one of Crosfield's former players killed in action in a recent conflict.
The boys' game preceded matches between the Mercian Regiment and Lancashire Regiment. It was a great honour forcthe team to be asked to play and the boys really did Play with Pride in front of a large crowd of spectators.
There were good ball skills and strong tackles made by James Broadfield, who also scored a try for the Warriors. Matthew Quinn, Kieran Donaghy and Matthew Crompton made strong runs and drives forward for the team with Kieran adding another try to the score board.
Daniel Giles improved his tacking skills and Matthew Schmid made his debut for the team with some good defence on the opposition. Dylan Wright proved he had the right stuff for the game, with his fantastic tackling skills and hat-trick of tries earning him the Man of the Match award.
