Leyland got off to a great start, moving the ball to the edges to keep the bigger Chorley pack moving aound in the unexpected heat and sun. This paid dividends when Stuart McLean finished off a shift play on the right hand edge to open the scoring. Moments later, Matt Shepherd
crossed in the opposite corner from Mark Quinn's long cut-out pass.
The Warriors then began to lose their way, with a succession of unforced errors and technical penalties inviting Chorley back into the game. The visitors capitalised with three well worked tries to take a 16-8 lead into the break.
With Leyland determined to get back on track, they earned a scrum just 10 metres out and quick hands to the left saw Adam Hagan
score in the corner on debut, with Quinn adding the touchline conversion.
Leyland kept up the pressure and strong runs from Ryan Sumner and Liam Betney took them close before Paul Lorenzen
crashed over. Ollie Austins half-break and quick play the ball had Chorley scrambling and Tom Lever went over, with Quinn converting.
The game was all Leyland as the fitness began to show through, with Lorenzen and Jonathon Cox almost adding tries before Scott Low
's neat chip through was collected by Andy Robinson who raced under the posts, with Low converting.
Chorley never surrendered the game and hit back with a try but Leyland completed the scoring when Chorley were penalised in front of the posts and prop James Green
stepped up to add the two points in his final game before emigrating to Australia!
A dominant performance for much of the game, Leyland just need to focus for the full 80 minutes to ensure they remain at the top end of the table.
