Leyton beat Chigwell Town
Good win against Chigwell Town
This was a very physical and up tempo game and on the whole played in good spirit. Chigwell arrived with 11 boys, with Leyton having 12 due to injuries and absentess's.
The game started off with good energy with both teams playing the ball around the pitch well. Leyton pressed forward winning a freekick which was floated to the back post for Joe James to header to the opposite post and leave the Chigwell goalkeeper with no chance. 1-0 Leyton.
Leyton and Chigwell continued in the same manner with both looking to either equalise or add to their tally. Chigwell pulled a goal back when their striker cooly slotted the ball past the Leyton Keeper. 1-1
Leyton doubled their tally with a Jamal Allen strike who came on midway through the first half, picking up a through ball and sprinting past the centrebacks to slot past the Chigwell keeper. 2-1 Leyton.
The third goal came from Sam Edwards who picked up the ball just outside the 6 yard box, dribbled past several Chigwell players before cooly shooting past keeper. 3-1 and Leyton were comfortably in command.
Second half and the game became slightly more physical with strong tackles going in and the ref having to speak to more than 1 player on both teams. Chigwell pulled another goal back to make it 3-2 and it seemed like it was going to be another one of those games that we should win but was going to draw.
But this night was a night when the boys were hungry for the win and with some good play down the right flank and interchange between Jordan Shaw to Joe James and then Joe James to Michael Girling and a perfectly weighted pass from Michael Girling to Jamal Allen. Who inturn ran onto the ball and unleasehed a left footed shot which flew past the Chigwell keeper into the goal. 4-2 Leyton. 2 minutes later and the final whistle was blown. A good display and a good result for the boys.
