Lightcliffe gained a maximum twenty point s from their opening game of the season after a fine team performance.

Their score of 232 was considered by many in the good crowd to be just about enough and so it proved to be but Farsley made a strong challenge and with ten overs to go the game was still in the balance.

The turning point was the dimissal of the threatening Osama Ahmed, by the ever reliable Marcus Kelly, for 64.
Kelly, who was as at his economical best, was one of five bowlers used by Michael Brooke and the pick of these was Evan Edwards who returned figures of 5-54. He and Irsalaan Ahmed provided a strong opening partnership.
There was much promise too from six overs of leg-spin from the youngest player on the field, Alex Kennedy.

Farsley finished on 204 following a final burst from Edwards and Ahmed.

Earlier in the afternoon Lightcliffe had built their innings around, initially, Brooke (35) and then Alex Tait (35), Evan Edwards (51) and Tom Powe (30).
Edwards's fifty, along with his five wickets made him, in most people's eyes, man of the match. There was also huge delight in Tait's elegant and well crafted innings on his return following injury problems in the past.

Tom Powe supported his colleagues sensibly and with some well selected shots. Richard Thompson and Kennedy made additional, and valuable , contributions to the challenging total.
