A sensational spell of spin bowling by Marcus Kelly was the highlight of a brilliant win for the second team.

The 9am start was a novelty but excellent drilling from David Knight, well supported by Chris Dyer, provided the backbone of a solid 153 on a turning Rod Heyhoe deck.

After a quick turnaround, Kelly was quickly amongst the wickets find turn and bounce on the dusty deck.

He found a useful ally in spin twin James Horne and the aggressive approach of the PSL batsmen always gave hope.

The visitors were firm favourites on 130 for 5, need just 24 for victory. However, fine catching from the likes of Josh Booth, Knight and Horne kept pegging Pudsey back.

Two more wickets for a pumped Kelly and one for Horne left the game in the balance; seven needed two wickets in hand. Another wicket for Kelly and then further drama as number eleven was trapped leg before to jubilant scenes on and off the pitch. It had been a remarkable morning’s cricket.

Kelly returned a career best 7 for 63 with horne picking up the other three scalps.
Well played everyone, with Chrissy Dyer’s wicket keeping a particular highlight on a turning and ripping deck.

Man of the match – Marcus Kelly
