Hat trick for Henry but Halifax u13's lose by one
Lightcliffes Hfx u13s went down by one run despite a hat trick from Henry Bancroft.
Lightcliffe bowling fist had to wait some time for an opening wicket with Illingworth's numbers 1 & 3 both retiring, although after reaching 83 after 12 overs the scoring rate slowed appreciably. However after Hari Singh took a good catch at cover off Ethan Dyson with the score on 85, Henry Bancroft found his line and length, bowling one batsmen in his 1st over and in his 2nd over finishing the innings off with a hat trick, the first 2 bowled and the final one stumped smartly by James Bancroft to finish the innings on 97.
In reply Lightcliffe lost Dylan Harrison early, bowled for 6, but Joel Holmes and James Bancroft attacked the bowling raising to 60 in 6 overs before Joel Holmes retired for his 25. Unfortunately this was followed by the loss of Oscar Kellet first ball caught at mid wicket and when Henry Bancroft was also caught for 4 and James Bancroft retired for 25 the pressure was on the batsmen to squeeze out the remaining 20 runs. Gurdaas Singh and Danny Grayshon got the score to 90 before Danny Grayshon was run out for3, a wicket that was followed by Gurdaas Singh being caught and bowled for a well made 13 with the score on 91. A couple of singles and a few extras brought the score up to 96 making it 2 to win with 5 overs left and Lightcliffe looking like they were almost home. It was not to be however as Ryan McConnell was caught for 1 and in the next over Ethan Dyson was run out trying for a single to very short 3rd man and u9 Hari Singh was bowled to leave the team just short. An agonisingly close defeat with plenty of "if only" hopefully lessons learnt for next time.
