Honours Even as Reserves Draw with Radford
U18's Trevell Lindo makes his Senior Debut
Reserves welcomed Radford to Church Lane for this mid-table fixture. Linby's stop-start season had been interrupted once again when last Saturday's fixture was called off on the morning of the game. However, the team had been buoyed by a good win in the Cup against Heanor and looked forward to a tough run of 3 games in 7 days.
Linby started brightly and an early header from Charlie Miller was unfortunate not to find the target. Not long afterwards Alistair Murray's shot was cleared off the line after great work wide on the right by Alex Dodd. 12 minutes into the game the lively Miller pulled up with an injury and was replaced by Aiden Butler who's energy kept the Radford backline on their toes and he nearly took advantage of some poor control but lost his footing as he was about to race clear. His namesake Ryan Butler slipped his marker to surge clear but Radford's keeper made a great save.
In defense Linby looked composed but keeper Matt Monk did have to make a terrific save to keep the scores level after his pass was intercepted by Radford's striker.
Half time: Linby CWFC Reserves 0-0 Radford Reserves
Radford had a concerted period of pressure at the start of the second half but the Linby's defense held firm and in truth, apart from a couple of long range efforts, their goal was rarely threatened. After weathering the early pressure Linby got going once more and took the lead when Ryan Butler got on the end of a well worked move to find the back of the net. Radford clinically punished a slip in centre midfield by Linby and brought the scores level. Connor Richardson replaced Sean White and slotted into centre defense alongside Luke Peters. The Butler's of Aiden and Ryan continued to create a threat up front for Linby and they looked the most likely to score. Looking for the victory U18's player Trevell Lindo was introduced for his senior debut and looked set to pinch the match winner only to be pulled back for an off-side flag.
Late on Radford nearly stole it when a header was cleared off the line by Joe Humphreys but in the end the points were shared.
Full time: Linby CWFC Reserves 1-1 Radford Reserves
Linby probably had the better chances in this game but both teams deserved to get something for their efforts and a point shared will have to do us.
We move on to Wednesday night and a local derby against Hucknall Town.
