WHITES FAIL TO CAPITALISE ON EARLY PRESSURE

Lincoln United had all the chances in the first half but it was Chasetown who took the lead with their only attack before the interval writes Peter Hayward.

It was the home side that created the chances shortly after the break with only the bar and post preventing them from extending their lead.

Danny Brooks pulled one back from the penalty spot on the hour but Chasetown took the lead after a quick break after 80 minutes.

It was the visitors' only defeat in 24 league games in a game which they should have at least shared the spoils.

Jake Gibson and Andy Hutchinson went close in the first two minutes but it was Chasetown who took the lead with their first attack when Paul Sullivan struck home from close range.

The Whites maintained the pressure but could not make the breakthrough despite the valiant efforts of Jordan Lemon on the right wing who proved to be a constant threat to the home defence.

In the first 10 minutes of the second half Chasetown were denied twice by the woodwork.

The half-time pep talk by their manager must have proved effective because they upped the tempo and put the visitors under severe pressure.

Yet the Gaffer's men battled back and started playing some very attractive football.

When Hutch was brought down in the box Danny Brooks converted the penalty.

But with 10 minutes left, Nathan Waite broke clear and slotted the ball home to give his side all three points.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Whites as they must have felt they deserved at least a point.

Yet chances have to be converted and despite a constant stream of attacks, the ball would not go in.

Next week's game against Norton United will provide them with the opportunity to put things right and stay in touch with the top five.
