Former United player Alex Rodman stepped uo to League Football early in the New Year and it is a case of so far so good for Alex

He played for United under John Ramshaw in the relegation season from the Premier Division but could not be blamed for any of that as he had moved to Gainsborough Trinity early in the season.

Alex was the subject of reported interest from League 1 new boys Notts County in the summer of 2010, but elected to stay at Tamworth, where he continued to garner praise. His second appearance for England 'C' in the September yielded his first international goal and that was followed two months later by him scoring the opening goal in the Lambs' 2-1 victory over League 2 Crewe Alexandra in the FA Cup first round.

In January 2011, having netted 10 times in all competitions for the Staffordshire side, Alex's continued good form was eventually rewarded when he achieved his dream of becoming a Football League player, when an undisclosed fee took him to Aldershot Town on a two-and-a-half year deal. Ironically, newly-appointed Shots boss Dean Holdsworth's last game as manager of Newport County (two weeks previously) was a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Tamworth, with Alex scoring all three goals for the victors!

Alex made his Aldershot debut as a second half substitute at Gillingham in January 2011 and marked the occasion with a goal in injury time.

So far he has started 4 games and made two substitute appearances and found the net three times for the Shots
