GAFFER'S THOUGHTS

In terms of result and performance, Saturday's win at Kidsgrove was right up there.

After back to back defeats, we worked hard in training Tuesday and Thursday on how we were going to adapt to the slope and with the elements not in our favour, how to play on the notorious Kidsgrove pitch.

We changed our shape and went more direct and our game plan worked to perfection.

The players really took on board what we wanted to achieve and we all knew that if we were solid at the back and in midfield we would get chances up front.

Brooksie and Brendan came back into the team for Kallum and Sam who we wanted to rest due to little niggles picked up in recent weeks.

Both were excellent and really gave us a platform to build on.

We showed that on any given day this squad is ready no matter who gets the nod to start games to compete against any team in this league.

Peter Ward has gathered a good side now at Kidsgrove and made us fight all the way.

There is no doubt they will pick up wins sooner rather than later so for us to get three points was massive.

With no game now for 10 days I've given the players a week off simply because they deserve it.

After six defeats out of our first seven games they have kicked on to fifth spot.

That's no mean achievement and with a hectic December and New Year schedule we will have a refreshed squad ready to go again.

They have given me eveything and more and if we can get the same points tally in the next 20 games that we have now, we will be in with a right chance of the play-offs.

We have a lot of hard work ahead of us and I call on the Lincoln folk to get to Ahby Avenue to give us your support.

Ps. On behalf of the management and players we wish Mary Cowling, the wife of our fantastic Chairman Malcolm, our sincere best wishes and a speedy recovery as she has recently taken ill.

That win was for you bossX
