I spoke with the Gaffer after the match against Lincoln City last Friday. Here are his thoughts. Peter Hayward

"In terms of effort, workrate and attitude I thought we were top drawer.

"I thought we were at it for the first 20 minutes. The pressing up the pitch was very impressive.

"Obviously we tired a little bit towards the end but we were up against a professional side and all credit to the lads for keeping going.

I asked about the performances of the new signings.

Gaffer said:" Michael Jacklin is one of the best centre halves in the league and he's a massive signing for us.

" I thought Callum Ward was outstanding alongside him.

"We were up against a really good forward line and you can see why they offered him a deal.

"But he's turned it down. He wants to go a different way and we are absolutely delighted he has signed for us.

"You look at Wrighty and Scott Matthews to make the four up with their overlapping runs and energy.

"It was very impressive from a young back line.

" It was a good crowd even with the World Cup being on.

"It's important the city sees two of their local sides who have the relationship we have.

"I think the crowd got value for money tonight.

" We play North Ferriby on Saturday so we will do a lighter training session on Wednesday after tonight's workout.

"We've brought in really good opposition to test the lads".

The game against North Ferriby is at The Sun-hat Villas stadium this Saturday kick off 3pm. All welcome.
