I spoke with the Gaffer after last night's 4-1 victory at Harrowby United in what was the Whites' third pre-season friendly. These are his thoughts.

Q What did you think of tonight's performance?

A." I am really pleased with the result and it was exactly the type of game we wanted.

" We were a bit laboured in the first half and the formation didn't suit us.

"All credit to Harrowby because they didn't let us play.

"We changed our formation to 4-4-2 in the second half and we looked a lot more solid. Everyone knew what they had to do."

Q Can you explain why you are chaning the style of play?

A. " We are going to play more possession football this season and pass the ball from the back through the units.

" We have the players who can do that and we are going to utilise their skills.

" It will take time to develop because the players are learning how to get used to this system.

" We are nowhere near the finished product yet but we are getting better."

Q What about the individual performances tonight?

A." The wide men did well. Eighteen-year-old George Asplin gave us a real injection of energy.

"The back four looked solid in the second half and the full backs did a lot of overlapping."

Q Boston Town on Saturday?

" We are still a bit thin on the ground but Danny Brooks is back."

Next up. Boston Town away this Saturday kick off 3pm.
