I asked the Gaffer about a game in which he made an appearance as substitute for the last 20 minutes.

Q. How come you and Big Sam had to come on?
A. The squad is threadbare at the moment. I have never known anything like it.
Danny Brooks pulled up in the warm-up with a hamstring problem. Andy Toyne has a broken bone in his toe. Sam Duncum has a thigh strain. Kieran Walker has rolled his ankle. Liam Richardson has a knee problem. Nathan Modest has a sore heel.Andy Hutchinson is recovering from pneumonia. Sean Cann has strained ankle ligaments.Kallum Smith, Glyn Cotton and Jordan Lemon are unavailable.
I had to change the set-up of the side five minutes before kick off after Danny Brooks pulled his hamstring in the warm up.
I will have to go into the loan market to find two or three more players

Q. Lincoln Moorlands on Wednesday. How are you going to plan for that match?

A. If anyone thinks this game is going to be easy, they had better think again. Lincoln Moorlands will be up for what is a big derby game.

Q. Any thoughts on the performance today against Gainsborough?

A. Players need to realise that opportunities to wear the shirt come quicker when you have an injury situation like ours. But the point is this. Once they get the shirt they have to want to keep it but half the team today didn't want it. Players were hiding.

This is a good learning curve for Sam and me. Apart from the last 25 minutes we couldn't get the basics right.

We have people like Michael Jacklin and Callum Ward who are consistent week in and week out.

We need the whole team to show the same type commitment and attitude.

It will be interesting to see what response I get from the players on Wednesday.
