WHITES PUSH IMPS ALL THE WAY

This was a good workout for Saturday. It gave everyone in the squad the chance to get some minutes into their legs after the two week enforced break.

Everyone looked sharp and eager. Scott Ruthven proved his striking powers were still intact following his 20 yard precision strike which gave the Whites the lead after 13 minutes.

Throughout the first half there was a willingness to reach the ball first and hussle the Imps out of possession.

But there was more to it than that. There was some quality football played with quick passing intertwined with hard work.

This was personnified by Andy Toyne who had an outstanding match.

The Imps equalised just before the break with a near post header. The lesson from that move for Saturday will be to pick up the unmarked man running towards the ball.

Lincoln City extended their lead 10 minutes into the second half with a goal from Sam Yorke.

Lots of players were used by both sides and quite rightly so.

Alex Simmons showed real potential, especially in the first half.

Overall there was nothing between the teams. Either side could have won.

The match served its purpose and the good crowd enjoyed an enetertaining game.

I for one think that the Gaffer's side can add some silverware to the cabinet this year.

There is quality all over the pitch. What's more it is backed up with a determination to win games and play for the badge that proudly says Lincoln United.
