WHITES FAIL TO CONVERT PRESSURE INTO GOALS

Lincoln United failed to put away the numerous chances they created, especially in the first half, and allowed Tividale the opportunity to counter-attack and take all three points at the Sun-hat Villas stadium in today's opening match of the campagn.

The Whites totally dominated the first half but despite the best efforts of Danny Brooks, Bruno Holden and Michael Jacklin it was the visitors who took the lead five minutes before half time.

Remember Ronaldhino's free kick that deceived David Seaman in the 2002 World Cup?
Well the only difference with the Tividale effort was that the ball flew over Robert Peet after a left foot strike and not from the right foot of Tividale's Zack Foster

Conceding a goal at any time is bad enough but when it comes after you have totally dominated the game, always seems worse.

However the Whites showed their fighting spirit and 10 minutes after the interval, Sean Wright ghosted into the six yard box and planted a header past the stranded Tividale keeper.

Hopes were high of a home victory but a quick break down the left wing by substitute Jordan Archer, who was doing a very good impression of Usain Bolt, led to the visitors' second when Mitchell Botfield planted the ball firmly past Robert Peet.

It was that man again, super sub Archer, who finished off the proceedings in the last minute when he broke free and fired home to make the final score a flattering 3-1 to Tividale.

Don't worry, it's only the first game. I would worry if chances hadn't been created but I totalled scoring opportunities for the Whites reaching double figures.

Yes, it's true they still have to be converted but from what I saw today, makes me believe there are plenty of goals in the locker which we will see very soon.

Good to see Canny and Andy Toyne back. Good to see a high workrate, looking forward to seeing the opposition net bulging with strikes from the Whites' attack on Tuesday at Stocksbridge.
