UNITED JOIN THE SUNDAY LEAGUE

Lincoln United will play their first Sunday Evo-Stik fixture this weekend when they travel to Stafford to face Northwich Victoria.

The Whites were force to switch from the scheduled Saturday when Stafford Rangers were drawn at home in the FA Trophy. As the ground is theirs they take priority and we go on Sunday.

There is a coach going so anyone interested can contact the club or ring John Wilkinson (07773 284017). It departs at 10.30am from Ashby Avenue.

It is not our first Sunday game, however, we played Cambridge United in a 4th Round Qualifying match in 2009. That game was switched on the insistence of the Police.

Manager, Terry Fleming said, "It's a tough ask for players who only get paid expenses to give up their Sunday and I hope their Saturday night out but we are looking to back up the excellent performance in midweek."

In the meantime Chris Funnell has left the club to try his luck across the City at Nettleham. Chris is looking to play more regularly and felt that Lincoln United couldn't offer that at the minute.

Both Manager, Fleming and Director of Football, John Wilkinson wished him well and were sorry to see him leave.
