Message from Rawlo

Good afternoon and welcome to Ashby Avenue for what is a really important game in our season, against Daventry. They currently sit in a play-off place, 4 points above us and we have games in hand so a real chance for us to gain some ground.

As the gaffer is away working at the moment we thought we would take this opportunity to give you mine and Sam’s thought’s on the season so far. When you look at the facts we have got further in both cup competitions than last season and beaten higher division opponents in the league cup as last year.

We are closer to the playoffs than at this stage last year in terms of points and lost less games but, having said that, the season so far has not had quite the same buzzing feeling as last year. Maybe’s that is because last year the season split itself into three parts with an awful start, a wonderful middle and a poor end and we all remember how good our two runs felt, or is it because this season has been so injury prone we have not been able to field the side week in and week that we want to and have had to change the way we play to suit, I don’t know.

But what I do know is that we have given ourselves a chance, along with 15 other sides, who will be saying the same thing. I think the top three, barring disasters, will fight out the title and therefore a good run for anyone can see the play offs a possibility, a bad run and a bottom half finish will beckon.

As the gaffer said at our last home game we have been “Joe Average” this year. It is only us that can change this and rest assured all the players and staff will be everything we can to change this. It will be good to have a fully fit squad to work with but we are not here to make excuses and we need to get the best out what is available week in week out.

So on to today, another Saturday home game in the league and a chance to put right our loss last time out in the league to Romulus, a game in which we dominated but didn’t take our chances and paid the price, we are also keen to put a smile back on everyone’s faces after last Saturday long trip and loss at Skelmersdale in the FA Trophy, a game we could have got our noses in front, didn’t and paid the price once again although I do feel on the day Skelmersdale were the better side.

Daventry will pose a tough test but one we can hopefully overcome but win, lose or draw one thing can be certain is that the lads and staff will be giving everything they have to give a good performance to put a smile on all the supporters faces come 5pm on Saturday,

Enjoy the Game,

Sam & Chris
