BATTLING UNITED LEFT FEELING EMPTY
United faced with one of their longer trips and a difficult pitch had the same starting line-up that did so well at Sutton Coldfield. The same four substitutes were also named. By the end of the game they felt hard done by to come away with nothing.
It was always going to be difficult as for the second time in four days we travelled to a team hopeful of reaching the play-offs. We gave a good account of ourselves throughout the match but in truth didn’t work the home keeper, Joe McCormack enough.
It was a week where Brendan McDaid past 550 appearances for the club.
We limited their opportunities also and a case could certainly be made for saying this was a good away performance, disjointed only by a debatable penalty which appeared to be waved away initially and then awarded.
The experienced Matt Haddrell made no mistake from the spot.
Manager Terry Fleming commented, “The lads did enough do have earned a point and if we keep showing this commitment we will pick up points. We are showing far more determination than we were before Christmas and in 2012 have been well in all three games. We are aware that we have to convert that into points and I have thrown down that challenge to the lads.”
