Dear friends and colleagues,

As you know Jill and I have been living at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital with our baby son Noah. He has a really rare lung condition and has been in critical care for all of his 7 months of his life so far.

We have been staying throughout the whole time at Ronald McDonald House which is on the hospital grounds. It's a totally free of charge 'home away from home' for all families of critically sick children at Alder Hey. I could never put in to words so you understood what the families staying there are going through or how important it feels to constantly stay nearby your child. We would have been totally lost without Mac House as would thousands of families each year. Not only would it have cost a fortune to rent somewhere close by, they gave us the chance to be by Noah's side in an instant when he really needed us. There have been times when we have been called in the early hours to say that Noah had arrested. Staying at Mac House gave us the ability to be with him in a matter of minutes, to hold his hand and be there when he was resuscitated so that we were the first people that he saw as he opened his eyes.
Mac House at Alder Hey is the largest Ronald McDonald House in Europe and has 69 bedrooms. Its the most amazing facility. It only has a handful of employed staff with the rest of the staff being volunteers. It costs £475k a year to run which has to be raised by voluntary contributions.

Planet has been given some amazing prizes from Huddersfield Town Football Club and Kirklees Active Leisure to help raise lots of money for Mac House at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

If you would like to bid for them or know anyone who does please let me know tomorrow at 5pm. All proceeds will be given to Mac House to help them continue to provide accommodation to the families of sick and dying children so that they can be at their loved ones bedsides 24 hrs a day.
