Day two- Tuesday 24th July and three wins out of three for the mighty Lions sees them through to the next round of the cup proper in both competitions!

After roll call at 7am and a hearty buffet breakfast, the Lions set off for day two of competition with a further 3 x 50 minute games ahead of them in the searing welsh sunshine!!!?? Today saw the Lions meet a welsh side Pencoed for their first 8 a side game, followed by Elite Soccer Schools in an 11 aside and then a further 8 a side fixture.
With a 10am kick off Lions set out to improve on their 8 a side defeat of the previous day and got into their stride early, playing out from the back and passing the ball around really well. Their efforts paid off with two well taken goals, not an easy feat with mini soccer goals being such a small target and thereafter they managed to keep the ball well, making the opposition do all the chasing whilst they maintained possession and conserved maximum energy in the heat. An excellent result with a good use of tactics in light of the weather conditions and amount of game time ahead of the squad for the rest of the day.
After a well earned break the Lions faced Elite Soccer Schools in the 11 a side competition. Yet again the Lions showed great guts and determination to hang on to their 1-0 lead from early in the first half and to claim a very well deserved three points in energy sapping conditions and against tough opposition. All credit to the boys for listening to their coaches, holding their shape and maintaining their concentration and composure throughout!
With barely a half hour break to gather breath and take on board some much needed fluids the team had to regroup for their final 8 a side game of the day against the very same team. Dean and Jamie played literally a game of two halves with pretty much half the squad playing one half and half the other! Both teams put in outstanding performances at the end of a long day and dug deep to come from 1-0 behind at the end of the first half to win 2-1 and win a place through into the next round of the cup in both the 8 and 11 aside competitions.
Superb performances all round from the Lions, every member of the squad has played their part in getting them through to the next round where 2 semi final games await them tomorrow!!! Come on you Lions!!!
