A clinical first half performance was enough to give Littleborough victory and a place in the semi-final of the cup against a tough Warrington side.

Converted first half scores from the returning Danny Lawlor and centre Adam Browne gave Littleborough a lead that Warrington couldn’t reel in , despite controlling the game for the majority of the second half.

Lawlor on his first start after a nasty head injury finished off a sweeping back-line move by dummying the winger and diving over in the corner. Walton found the centre of the posts with a high quality kick from the far right corner to add what would become important extras.

It didn’t take long for Boro to extend that lead with another well worked try. This time it was Adam Browne on the outside arc that dummied a back pedalling winger before squeezing over as other defenders tried everything to stop him. Walton clearly had his kicking boots on with another smart conversion to boot.

Warrington shell-shocked by the home sides’ fast start then hit a blow of their own. A grubber from the visitors fly half midway in the Boro half was kicked through by a Diminutive right winger who held his nerve to dive on the ball over the try-line. The missed conversion would be telling in what was starting to become an even contest.

Come the second half though and for as much as Warrington would huff and puff at the Littleborough defensive wall they could not penetrate. A solitary easy penalty their only consolation for a tough afternoon's work.

Littleborough would however revel in a magnificent defensive display that saw Adam Browne, Alex West and Alistair Godwin in particular make some huge bone-crunching tackles. So with Northwich 2's to come in a home semi-final at Rakewood, it is sure to be a classic.
