Excellent Rugby performance by all the Boro Team during the worse weather possible to continue their Winning ways.

Due to some horrendous gale force weather conditions the Match kicked off some 10 minutes late and both Teams endured possibly the worst conditions this Season but immediately got stuck in and produced an exciting Match. The drenched playing surface made difficulty in holding the feet firm on the ground and within the first 3minutes Walton ignored the conditions and converted a Penalty to put Boro ahead but not for long as the Visitors hit back at once into Boro,s 25metres where plenty of time was taken to steady a scrum, then an attempted clearance kick by Andy Bairstow fell into the Visitors Right Wingers hands and he splashed down his wing to score the first Try, which was converted, to put St Edwards ahead. This encouraged the Visitors and back into Boro,s half they came, where Kearns tried to run the ball clear but fell foul of the Referee and the game was still in Boro,s half, Boro winning a lineout but then knocked on and it fell eventually to Park to kick well upfield to touch. Weather still pouring with rain and Andy Bairstow showed his talent with a nice flick of the ball off the floor into the hands of his Centre,Whittles who made good metres forward. Then Boro forged forward into Visitors 25metres and a clever ground kick forward by Andy Bairstow, now back in his rightful position at Stand Off, found Park to launch himself onto the ball over the Tryline under the Posts for Boro,s opening Try, converted by Walton. Again Andy Bairstow with delicate kick forward for his Centre partner Walton to chase and nearly gathered , now game played in Visitors 25metres area from strong play by Boro,s Forwards, which led to Visitors No7 sin binned for 10minutes. Now Boro were on front foot and the ball was passed well along the Backs to Winger Kearns, who crossed the line for Boro,s second Try,again converted by Walton but hard to believe , St Edwards hit back immediately from kick off and gained a Penalty Try, which they converted to make the margin only 3pts for Boro. Due to the rain and soggy ground conditions there was plenty of ball kicking by both Teams but an intelligent up in the air forward kick by Kolbuck found his Winger ,Kearns racing along his wing and kick the ball forward along the ground over the tryline and drop on it for his second Try of the match, no conversion. Again Boro pressing in Visitors half and from a lineout Andy Bairstow passed a great ball out to his Centre,Walton to hit the ball at speed and nearly got to the line, quality Rugby in these bad conditions. Now Boro Forwards were dominating play and providing more ball for their Threequarters who showed great passing control, especially Park , coming into the line from Fullback, who cleverly fed his Winger Kearns to score his Hat Trick of Tries, conversion just missed.
Start of the second half at least the rain had stopped but under foot conditions stll very wet, soon Boro , now well on top, were attacking again , this time by their right Winger,Andy Roberts and he ran strongly to collect another Boro Try, this time converted by Walton, Now Boro made player changes and Goldthorpe came on to replace Kearns on the Left Wing, meanwhile Boro Forwards again taking control by excellent pressure from their pack walking their opposition backwards over their own tryline and Dickinson scored a well deserved Try for his total contribution to Boro,s play. Unfortunately, at this point in the match, a fight broke out by a number of players from both teams and the Referee eventually got control back and the consequence was that a St Edwards Forward was shown the Red Card. Nothing to do with the earlier event but to give their substitutes some time on the pitch, Dickinson came off to allow Stuart Irving to have some game time, followed shortly by Robert Chadwick also coming on. Now Walton showing his great vision and kicking the ball in to touch only 10metres from opposition line, this was followed by Visitors kicking upfield only to be collected by Park who ran forward before passing to Goldthorpe for him to use his pace on the wing to out strip any attempt to tackle and obtain a further Boro Try ,which Walton converted. Soon he, Walton, was catching the eye again selling a nice dummy pass in the Centre which set up another Threequarter movement finalising in another Try for Goldthorpe and then Walton topped it with an amazing conversion way out on the touchline, brilliant. Coming to the close there was just time for Boro,s Pack to again walk their opponents metres backwards over the line for Stuart Irving to be credited with the Try.
The Match suffered from terrible wet weather conditions and credit to both Teams for the high standard of Rugby they both produced , especially Boro ,who,s Forwards led by Captain Murgatroyd worked hard to provide ball for their Threequarters , who in turn didn,t let them down and handled and ran the ball well to score the points.
For what must be his first " Hat Trick " of Tries the " Man of the Match " went to David Kearns, well done everyone.
