Chris Duffy is leaving Littleborough RUFC as he moves to Australia, so we want to show some appreciation for a valued member of the Boro train.

Back row Duffy played for the club in 3 separate spells from during his glittering 13 year career with the black green and gold.

Chris started as a youngster in a successful junior colts team before leaving the club for a short period travelling the world but soon made his return for the Rakewood club. Upon his return, Chris soon established himself as a strong tackler and a work manlike ball carrier and many will say that is something that has not changed in Chris' game.

During the second spell of his Littleborough career, he continued to develop his game further and was soon pushing for a place in the first team with some impressive performances for the 2nd team. Chris had certainly come along way from the days of playing at fly half for the 3rds!

He would then go on to make his first team debut in unexpected circumstances after being told that he was playing at centre whilst on a Thursday night drinking session in the Falcon by club legend Dave Greenwood.

Chris would once more take time away from the club to see more of the world on his travels. However, Littleborough resonated with the man and he came back for another stint which may prove to be one of the best life decisions he has ever made because during his final stint of 5 years, he would win numerous silverware and trophies and made countless memories and lifelong friends.

One of his and Littleborough's greatest moments was the journey and eventual stop at Twickenham in May 2011, where the side reached the Senior Vase trophy final against Twickenham RUFC. A event many will never forget but for Chris the semi final against Newbold-upon-Avon was just as special.

“It was a beautiful sunny day at Rakewood, big crowd and when we scored Tommy Galv turned to me and said: 'you know where we're going!' Twickenham”

The very next year, the former RFU all schools coach would pick up victors silverware as Littleborough won the league title with some very commanding and instrumental performances. Though at the time, his teammates could not decide which was better: His performances on the pitch or his stylish Mohawk?

Duffy once again played a pivotal role in the run-up to Littleborough's next trophy success two years ago in the Lancashire Plate. He did play in the final and despite finding himself in the bin for 10 minutes in the first half, he would make a great recovery to help the forward pack overpower a strong St Edward's side.

Since then, Duffy has continued to make a lasting impression on teammates, friends and club members and will be sorely missed by all. We at the club are very proud of the person and player he has become and are very thankful for all the years of service he has given the club and wish him all the best on his future adventures and endeavours.
